Bing & Grøndahl The Sea figurine no. 61 or 4061 Kai Nielsen

The Bing & Grøndahl figurine The Sea, girl kissing dolphin, is a poetic porcelain figurine with a soft and lively expression. The motif shows a girl lifting a small dolphin up toward her face in a tender moment, while she is placed on a larger dolphin above undulating forms. The figurine unites childlike closeness, the movement of the sea, and Kai Nielsen's sure sense of organic lines in a composition that appears light and harmonious from all angles.

The white porcelain and the glossy blanc de chine technique emphasize the figurine's calm character and let the form speak for itself. Here it is the interplay between girl, dolphin, and sea motif that carries the story. The smooth glaze highlights the rounded forms, the girl's hair, and the dolphins' elegant movement, giving the figurine a pure and sculptural expression that fits beautifully into both classic and modern interiors.

Kai Nielsen is known for figurines with presence, movement, and narrative, and this is clearly felt here. The Sea is a Bing & Grøndahl figurine that appeals both to collectors of Danish porcelain and to those seeking a porcelain figurine with a maritime motif and artistic character. The motif of the girl and the dolphin gives the figurine a special warmth and makes it an obvious gift idea for a collector, for a home with a love of the sea, or as a personal detail on the shelf, in the display cabinet, or on a side table.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add soul and personality to the home. When you choose a piece of classic craftsmanship with history, you are at the same time choosing a more sustainable alternative to new production and giving a beautiful design new life in today's interior.
