Aluminia small Christmas plate 1919 Angel Ø 16 cm

Aluminia small Christmas plate from 1919 with the motif Angel is an atmospheric vintage piece, where the solemn calm and warmth of Christmas are conveyed with an unusually colorful and decorative expression. The small plate belongs to the series of small Aluminia Christmas plates, which were produced from 1904 to 1938, and this particular vintage shows just how distinctive Aluminia's Christmas faience is compared to many other Danish Christmas plates from the period.

The motif immediately draws the eye to the angel figure in the center. The angel is depicted with a bowed head and a peaceful facial expression, surrounded by a golden halo and large wings with fine fields in blue, green, and light shades. In front of it, the angel holds a flowing ribbon with the year 1919 painted in black, flanked by small golden details. The composition gives the plate a beautiful balance between the simple and the ornate, and the motif conveys both the message of Christmas and a calm, almost devotional atmosphere.

The colors are an important part of the experience. The dark blue ground and rim provide depth and contrast, while the green, golden, violet, and light tones bring the motif forward in a vivid way. It is precisely this colorful decoration that makes many Aluminia Christmas plates particularly sought after among collectors and lovers of older Danish design. The plate is made in faience, which gives a characteristic glow and supports the rich colors in a way that is entirely typical of Aluminia.

Designer Heiberg is behind this vintage, and the motif Angel suits the period just after the First World War well, when peace, hope, and light must have had a special resonance. As wall decoration, the plate can hang on its own, but it also looks beautiful together with other vintages in a collection of Danish Christmas plates. Older faience with history adds personality to the home and is at the same time a sustainable choice when one wishes to give classic craftsmanship new life.
