Royal Copenhagen porcelain plate with motif of a Dutch settler family on Amager, issued on the occasion of the establishment of "Hollænderbyen" in Store Magleby on Amager around 1521.
In 1521, King Christian II invited a group of Dutch farmers to settle on Amager in order to improve Danish agriculture. These Dutch farmers mainly settled in Store Magleby, which for this reason became known as "Hollænderbyen".
