About the product
1988 Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate, designed by Sv. Vestergaard, has the title Christmas Eve in Copenhagen. Royal Copenhagen's Christmas plate from 1988 is called Christmas Eve in Copenhagen. The plate bears the emblem of King Christian IV at the centre, referring to one of Denmark's most kings Christian IV, whose coronation 400 years earlier, were celebrated in 1988. In subtle homage, the artist has the two children looking out from the top of Rundetårn (The Round Tower), a 36-meter high observatory constructed in 1642. King Christian IV is best known for his large number of buildings, for instance Rosenborg Palace ( see 1916 plate), the stock exchange and Nyboder.
