Bing & Grøndahl Dicks Mama figurine no. 1642 or 413

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 1642 or 413, known as Dicks Mama, is a porcelain figurine with a warm and human motif that immediately catches the eye. The figurine depicts a seated mother with a child at her knees, and the interaction between the two gives the motif a calm, present, and homely atmosphere. It is precisely this story of care, relationship, and everyday moments that makes the figurine as relevant today as when it was created.

The design was created by Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger, who is known for her sensitive and characterful figurative motifs. Here, the expression is subdued and harmonious with soft shapes, light shades, and a fine balance between the figurine's calm posture and the child's more lively movement. The seated mother and the child reaching up toward her give the figurine a natural narrative that fits beautifully into the collection of classic Bing & Grøndahl figurines.

The figurine belongs to the Scandinavian Women series and is made in porcelain with underglaze, which emphasizes the classic craftsmanship and lasting quality that many collectors and design enthusiasts appreciate. As a vintage porcelain figurine, it also carries the special charm that comes with older decorative art created to last through generations. Choosing a figurine with history is at the same time a beautiful way to give fine craftsmanship new life in a modern interior.

Dicks Mama is ideal as a collector's figurine, but it also works well as a personal gift idea for a mother, for new parents, or for someone who loves figurines with family and childhood motifs. It can stand alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or on a smaller table, where its calm expression is allowed to stand out, or be combined with other porcelain figurines from Bing & Grøndahl for a more cohesive expression.
