Bing & Grøndahl Fisher Family figure no. 2025 Axel Locher

Bing & Grøndahl figure no. 2025, Fisher Family, is an atmospheric porcelain figure that depicts life by the coast with a calm and human closeness. The motif shows a fisherman with the catch in his hand side by side with a woman carrying a child on her shoulders. Together they form a story of family, work, and everyday life, where fishing and home are closely connected.

The figure is modelled by Axel Locher and belongs to the naturalistic tradition for which Bing & Grøndahl is known. Here the focus is not on grand gestures, but on the quiet moment: the glance between the adults, the child placed safely between them, and the simple, lively depiction of a fisher family. The colours in blue, white, brown, and sand tones emphasise the motif's maritime and down-to-earth character.

As a porcelain figure in the Realism series, it combines narrative and craftsmanship in a way that makes it interesting both for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figures and for those who appreciate Danish design with historical depth. The underglaze decoration gives a soft and harmonious surface that suits the figure's calm expression. It is precisely this type of occupational figure or fisher figure that also appeals to collectors with an interest in coastal life, maritime environments, and Danish everyday motifs.

An older porcelain figure like this brings both history and personality into the interior. It fits beautifully in a display cabinet, on a chest of drawers, or as part of a collection with other figures from Bing & Grøndahl. At the same time, it is a fine way to give classic quality new life, so that a piece of Danish porcelain history can continue to be appreciated in a modern home.
