Royal Copenhagen bear cub figurine 246 / 1049246 Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen bear cub figurine 246 is a characterful stoneware figurine by Knud Kyhn, an artist who is especially known for his lively and true-to-life animal figures. Here, the bear cub is modeled in a calm, almost thoughtful pose, where the broad body, the powerful paws, and the slightly turned head give the figure both weight and personality. It is precisely this type of animal depiction that has made Knud Kyhn a sought-after name among collectors of Danish design and Royal Copenhagen figurines.

The figurine has a dark glaze with warm, golden nuances on the highlighted areas, which emphasize the fine details of the modeling around the face, ears, paws, and the structure of the fur. The expression is soft and present, and the bear cub appears neither rigid nor polished, but with the organic form and materiality that suit stoneware so well. This gives the figurine a special depth and makes it beautiful both on its own and together with other animal figurines from Royal Copenhagen.

A bear figurine like this fits well into an interior where one wants warmth, history, and a personal touch. It can stand in a bookcase, on a desk, on a windowsill, or as part of a collection of Nordic ceramics and porcelain. As an older design object, it also holds the joy of choosing something that has already proven its value over time. It is a fine way to bring original Danish craftsmanship further into a modern home, where quality and design are still allowed to take up space.

For collectors, figurine number 246 and RC no. 1049246 are important details when the figurine is to be identified. For the design enthusiast, it is first and foremost a Royal Copenhagen bear cub with the calm, strong expression that makes Knud Kyhn's animal figures relevant year after year.
