Royal Copenhagen bear cub figurine no. 21435 or 235 by Knud Kyhn

This bear cub from Royal Copenhagen is a characterful stoneware figurine with the distinctive, lively expression that makes Knud Kyhn's animal figurines so sought after. The figurine depicts a small bear sitting with its front paws raised toward its head, as if it is hiding, listening, or seeking comfort. This gives the figurine a fine balance between calm, reflection, and personality, and it is precisely this narrative posture that makes it more than just a decorative figure.

The surface appears in a deep, dark glaze with warm brownish shades that gather beautifully around the ears, paws, and face. The soft shapes and the compact body language emphasize Knud Kyhn's assured ability to model animals with both weight and presence. As a Royal Copenhagen figurine, this bear cub fits naturally into an interior with a focus on Danish design, ceramics, and classic collectors' items, but it also works beautifully as a standalone eye-catcher on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or on a desk.

Knud Kyhn is known for his organic animal figurines, and this bear figurine clearly bears the mark of the sense of form that has made his works popular among collectors of Royal Copenhagen stoneware. For those who appreciate older design with history and soul, it is a figurine that adds warmth and personality to the home. At the same time, it is a beautiful example of how good craftsmanship and strong design can live on and find a new place in modern interiors.

A Royal Copenhagen bear cub like this is also an obvious gift idea for collectors, design enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates Danish stoneware figurines. The dark glaze and the intimate motif make it easy to combine with both other animal figurines, ceramics, and Nordic interior style.
