Royal Copenhagen bear figurine no. 20240 by Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen bear figurine no. 20240 by Knud Kyhn is a lively and characterful stoneware figurine, where two bears are captured in the middle of play and tumbling. The motif has both weight and warmth, and Kyhn manages to give the figure an almost narrative quality, so that one immediately senses the movement and the interaction between the two animals. It is precisely this ability to unite nature study, humor and sculptural calm that has made Knud Kyhn's animal figures so sought-after.

The figurine is made in stoneware and appears with a light base and darker, flowing glaze effects in brown shades, which emphasize the shapes and give the surface depth. The rounded bodies, the raised paws and the soft lines give the figurine a robust, organic expression, which fits beautifully into both classic and modern interiors. As a Royal Copenhagen figurine, it has that special combination of craftsmanship, Danish design history and decorative strength that makes it ideal for the display cabinet, the shelf or a still life with other ceramic objects.

A bear figurine like this appeals both to collectors of Knud Kyhn, Royal Copenhagen stoneware and Danish animal figurines, but also to you who are simply looking for a figurine with personality and materiality. Older stoneware figurines like this carry a special calm and authenticity with them, and they add soul to the home in a way that only design with history can. At the same time, it is a beautiful way to choose quality and give fine craftsmanship new life in a contemporary home.

It also works well as a gift for the collector, the design lover or the one who is fond of Nordic ceramics and animal figurines with character. On its own it stands strong, but it can also be combined with other stoneware figurines or ceramic objects, where its warm glaze and lively motif really come into their own.
