Royal Copenhagen stallion stoneware figurine no. 21735 Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen stallion stoneware figurine no. 21735 is a striking animal figure with the power and movement for which Knud Kyhn is known. The stallion is modelled in a vivid moment, where it lifts its leg and tenses its body, giving the figure an almost dramatic forward motion. This creates a strong expression and makes it an obvious choice for collectors of Danish animal figures, stoneware and classic Scandinavian design.

The figure stands on a detailed, undulating base, which emphasises the movement in the motif. The glaze plays beautifully in green, brownish and dark shades, which highlight both the musculature, the mane and the tail. The surface has the characteristic tactile and deep expression that suits Royal Copenhagen's stoneware so well, and which gives the figure warmth and weight in the interior.

Knud Kyhn had a special ability to depict animals with personality, and this is clearly felt here. The stallion appears both upright, strong and alert, which makes the figure interesting to look at from several angles. It fits beautifully as a solitaire on a chest of drawers, in a bookcase or as part of a collection with other animal figures from Royal Copenhagen. For the design-interested, it is also a gift idea with history, character and lasting value.

Older stoneware figures like this contain a quality and durability that make them worth preserving and using in the home for many years to come. Precisely for that reason, vintage design and collectibles are a beautiful and sustainable alternative to new production. A figure like this adds personality, storytelling and Danish design to the interior.
