Royal Copenhagen puma stoneware figurine no. 21645 by Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen puma stoneware figurine no. 21645 is a striking animal figurine with the lively, organic world of forms for which Knud Kyhn is known and appreciated. The figurine depicts a large cat in motion, with lowered head, powerful paws and a tense body, giving the motif presence and a predatory character. It is a figurine that immediately catches the eye and adds both warmth, weight and personality to the interior.

The glaze plays a major role in the figurine's expression. The flowing nuances in brownish, greenish and light tones settle beautifully over the body and highlight the modelling's muscles, back, face and legs. Together with the low base, this gives the figurine an almost landscape-like character, where the animal seems to move across rock or soil. It is precisely this combination of nature motif, stoneware and characterful glaze that makes the figurine particularly interesting for collectors of Danish ceramics, Royal Copenhagen and Knud Kyhn's animal figurines.

Knud Kyhn had a rare ability to create animals with weight and personality, and this is clearly felt here. The puma does not appear stiff or decorative from a distance, but as a figurine with body, tension and instinct. Therefore, it functions both as a classic collector's item and as a strong feature in a modern home, where it can stand alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of an arrangement with other ceramic figurines and nature-inspired objects.

Older stoneware figurines like this have a special ability to bring history and soul into the home. It is design created to last, and that is precisely why it makes sense to let good craftsmanship live on. A figurine like this is not merely decoration, but a piece of Danish design history that can still create joy and atmosphere today.
