Royal Copenhagen fawn stoneware figurine no. 183/20183 - Knud Kyhn

This Royal Copenhagen stoneware figurine depicts a reclining fawn modelled by Knud Kyhn, who is known for his lively and characterful animal figures. The figurine has a calm, almost alert expression, where the head is raised slightly, and the body is gathered in a resting position. This gives the figurine a fine balance between calm and attentiveness, which makes it decorative from several angles.

The dark glaze with warm brownish and golden nuances highlights the figurine's shapes in a beautiful and sensuous way. Ears, muzzle, legs and the soft lines across the body stand out clearly, and it is precisely the flowing transition between light and dark that helps give the stoneware figurine depth. Knud Kyhn had a special ability to simplify the animal's form without losing its natural character, and that is clearly felt here.

A fawn in stoneware from Royal Copenhagen fits beautifully into both classic and modern interiors, where it can stand on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a still life with other Danish ceramics and porcelain. For collectors of Knud Kyhn and Royal Copenhagen, the model is also interesting because it combines Danish design tradition, animal storytelling and the distinctive expression that stoneware provides. It is a figurine with warmth, weight and personality - ideal as a gift for a collector or for you, who are fond of older Danish decorative arts with history.
