Royal Copenhagen elephant stoneware figurine no. 20186 - Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen elephant stoneware figurine no. 20186 is a characterful animal figurine by Knud Kyhn, in which the calm, heavy elephant is translated into a compact and lively formal language. The figurine has a low, sturdy body, pronounced ears and tusks as well as a slightly forward-bent posture, which gives it a calm, present expression. The variegated glaze in light, brownish and bluish shades emphasizes the figurine's organic surface and gives the stoneware depth and variation from angle to angle.

Knud Kyhn is especially known for his animal figurines, and the elephant in particular is a fine example of his sure eye for the animal's weight and personality. Here the lines are simple, but the expression is far from anonymous. The figurine fits beautifully into an interior with Danish design, ceramics and other classic collector's items, where it can stand alone on a shelf, in a bookcase or as part of a combined display with other animal figurines. As an older design object, it also contains the special joy that lies in choosing fine craftsmanship with history and giving it a natural place in a modern home.

For collectors of Royal Copenhagen and for those who love Danish stoneware, this is a figurine with both decorative strength and classic appeal. It also works perfectly as a gift for someone who appreciates animal figurines, Nordic ceramics and design with soul. Model number 20186 is important for identification and makes the figurine easy to recognize among other elephant figurines from Royal Copenhagen.
