Royal Copenhagen monkey figurine 20188, 8,5 cm, Knud Kyhn

This monkey figurine from Royal Copenhagen has a calm, almost contemplative expression that makes it remarkable at first glance. The figurine is modelled as a sitting monkey with its arms gathered close to its body, and it is precisely this compact, closed posture that gives it plenty of personality. The face is finely highlighted with an alert gaze and defined features that give the figurine life and character.

Knud Kyhn is known for his animal figurines, and here you clearly sense his feeling for form and volume. The body is softly rounded, while the surface gains extra depth through the dark and golden-brown shades that play beautifully across the stoneware. This gives the figurine a warm and lively expression that fits well into both classic and more modern homes.

As a stoneware figurine, it has a weight and materiality that particularly suit the motif well. The small size of 8,5 cm makes it easy to place on a shelf, in a display cabinet, on a desk, or as part of a collection of Royal Copenhagen figurines. It also works really well together with other animal figurines, where it adds a more powerful and strong-charactered expression to the group.

For collectors of Knud Kyhn and Royal Copenhagen, figurine number 20188 is an important detail, and for those interested in design, it is a figurine that shows how strong Danish stoneware design can be in the small format. At the same time, it is an obvious choice as a gift for anyone who loves classic animal figurines, Danish design, and objects with presence.

Older figurines like this often contain a special charm because they are created with an eye for both form, durability, and artistic expression. Choosing a figurine with a history is also a beautiful way to give good craftsmanship new life in the interior.
