Royal Copenhagen mourning capuchin monkey figurine no. 068 Pia Langelund

Royal Copenhagen mourning capuchin monkey figurine no. 068 is a striking monkey figurine with a calm, concentrated expression and a form that balances between nature study and modern sculpture. The figurine is created by Pia Langelund, who in this series has worked with the monkey's character in a simple and precise way. The dark appearance gives the figurine weight, while the seated posture and the clasped hands add an almost contemplative presence.

The monkey is modelled with soft, rounded lines and a stylised design language that makes it suitable as both an art object and a decorative figurine in the home interior. In the pictures, the black monkey is shown placed on a frosted glass base, which visually lifts the figurine and creates a fine contrast between the dense, dark porcelain and the light, transparent expression of the glass. This makes the figurine interesting to view from several angles and gives it a sculptural character that looks beautiful on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as a standalone design object.

This monkey figurine belongs to Royal Copenhagen's monkey series, where each sculpture highlights different sides of the monkey's personality. The mourning capuchin in particular is characterised by its distinctive head and its intense expression, and Pia Langelund has captured the species in a tight and harmonious composition. The combination of bisque and glass emphasises the craftsmanship and gives the figurine a refined, artistic expression.

For collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines and for those who appreciate Danish design with character, this is a figurine with both identity and decorative strength. It also works well together with other animal figurines or as a gift for someone who appreciates porcelain, sculpture and thoughtful design.
