Royal Copenhagen monkey figurine 1454-940 trio of three monkeys Knud Kyhn

This monkey figurine from Royal Copenhagen brings together three seated monkeys in a close and calm composition, where they lean into each other and create a motif with presence, warmth, and character. The figurine has a lively expression, and Knud Kyhn's confident formal language is felt in the natural way the animals' bodies are modeled. The muted grey shades and the glossy glaze highlight the soft transitions and give the figurine depth from every angle.

The motif of the three monkeys makes the figurine particularly decorative, because it tells a little story in itself. From the front, one is met by faces with different angles and expressions, while the sides and back show the group as a close whole. This makes this Royal Copenhagen figurine suitable for placement on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or on a side table, where it can be seen and appreciated from several sides.

Knud Kyhn is known and appreciated for his animal figurines, and monkey figurines in particular hold a very special place among collectors of Danish design and porcelain figurines. Here you get a model where the artistic and the decorative go hand in hand. It fits beautifully among other animal figurines, but also stands strongly on its own as a small eye-catcher with personality.

For those who appreciate older porcelain and classic Danish design, this figurine is also a fine example of how good craftsmanship can live on in modern interior design. A figurine like this brings both history, soul, and lasting quality into the home and is at the same time an obvious gift idea for collectors or for someone who appreciates Royal Copenhagen and Knud Kyhn's animal motifs.
