Royal Copenhagen ballerina on bench figurine no. 137 Allan Therkelsen

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 137 depicts a young ballerina by a small bench and captures a quiet moment from the world of ballet. The figure stands with her arms lightly gathered in front of her body, while her gaze is turned to the side, as if she is taking a short break between exercises. This makes this porcelain figurine a fine choice for collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines and for everyone who is fond of the motif of dance, ballet and the poetic calm of childhood.

Allan Therkelsen has created a child figurine with a calm and natural expression. The light ballet costume with the defined tutu, the light ballet shoes and the light hair in braids give the figure a classic ballet character, while the blue bench adds contrast and depth to the motif. The composition between the child and the bench makes the figurine more narrative than a traditional standing ballerina figurine and gives it a special place in the interior.

As a porcelain figurine from Royal Copenhagen, it is made in underglaze, which emphasizes the soft transitions and the calm colors. The motif fits beautifully in a collection of child figurines, dancer figurines or other classic porcelain figurines, but can also stand alone on the shelf, in the display cabinet or on a chest of drawers, where it adds a calm and personal expression to the home. For those who appreciate older design and good craftsmanship, it is also a meaningful way to choose quality with history over new production.

This ballerina figurine is ideal as a gift idea for a ballet lover, a collector of Royal Copenhagen or as a personal gift with reference to dance and the performing arts. It is exactly the type of figurine that both evokes memories and continues to function beautifully in a modern home.
