Bing & Grøndahl duckling figurine no. 1589 by Dahl-Jensen, 11 cm

Bing & Grøndahl duckling figurine no. 1589 is a classic porcelain figurine with a soft and lifelike expression. The small bird figurine is shaped as a standing duckling with an upright posture, raised head and slightly outstretched beak, which gives the motif a lively and attentive character. The rounded shapes and calm silhouette make the figurine a fine example of Danish porcelain art, where simplicity and character go hand in hand.

The duckling is modelled by Jens Peter Dahl Jensen, who is known for his convincing animal figurines and his sure sense of movement and anatomy. Here this is seen in the natural posture, the defined feet and the harmonious transition between head, body and tail. The underglaze decoration supports the figurine's calm surface and highlights the soft lines that make bird figurines from Bing & Grøndahl so sought after among collectors of Danish porcelain.

This porcelain figurine fits beautifully in a display cabinet, on a shelf or as part of an arrangement with other bird figurines and animal figurines. The small size makes it easy to place, and the motif adds a discreet reference to nature, bird life and classic Scandinavian design language to the home. For collectors, it is a model that combines a familiar motif with the name Dahl-Jensen and Bing & Grøndahl's strong tradition for figurines in porcelain.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to create personality in the décor. They are created to last, to be taken care of and to be given new life in new homes. Therefore, a vintage bird figurine is not only a decorative choice, but also a way to preserve good craftsmanship and Danish design history.
