Bing & Grøndahl Pekingese figure no. 1631, 9 cm

This Bing & Grøndahl dog figure no. 1631 depicts a seated Pekingese with a calm, almost thoughtful expression. The small porcelain figure is modelled with great attention to the breed's distinctive features: the broad head, the large dark eyes, the short snout and the small curled tail. The soft light brown markings on the head, back and tail bring the figure to life and emphasise its warm, characterful appearance.

The figure is designed by Jens Peter Dahl Jensen, who is known for his lifelike animal figures for Bing & Grøndahl. Here, his sure sense of both anatomy and personality can be seen in a compact 9 cm figure, where the simple seated pose gives the motif calm, balance and presence. The combination of porcelain and underglaze highlights the smooth surfaces and the fine transitions in the decoration.

As a porcelain figure, dog figure and collector's figure, this Pekingese fits beautifully into both classic and modern homes. It is ideal in a display cabinet together with other Bing & Grøndahl figures, but it also works beautifully on its own on a shelf, a desk or in a quiet arrangement with Danish design and decorative arts. For dog lovers and collectors of porcelain animals, it is a model with lots of personality and a motif that creates warmth in the interior.

Older porcelain figures like this have a special ability to add history and soul to the home. That is precisely part of the charm of choosing well-crafted design that can still be used and enjoyed today. A figure like this is also a thoughtful gift idea for the collector, the dog lover or the one who appreciates Danish porcelain with character.
