Bing & Grøndahl Pekingese dog figurine no. 1637 Dahl-Jensen

Bing & Grøndahl Pekingese dog figurine no. 1637 is a classic porcelain figurine with a calm and dignified expression. The figurine depicts a Pekingese in a seated, slightly turned pose, where the characteristic long coat is modeled in soft, flowing forms. The warm brownish shades over the white glaze highlight the head, back, and the fall of the coat and give the figurine a lively, natural character.

Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen is known for his animal figurines with great understanding of both anatomy and temperament, and that is clearly evident here. The Pekingese's large eyes, the short snout, and the calm posture are rendered with a fine balance between naturalism and porcelain sculpture. It is a dog figurine that appeals both to collectors of Bing & Grøndahl and to dog lovers who appreciate breeds with history and personality.

As a porcelain figurine, the model has a decorative calmness about it that makes it easy to place in the home. It works beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or on a side table, where it can stand alone or be included together with other dog figurines, animal figurines, and classic Danish porcelain. The colors are subdued and harmonious, so the figurine fits well into both traditional and more modern surroundings.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special charm because they unite craftsmanship, design history, and lasting quality. Choosing a figurine with history is also a way to give existing craftsmanship new life. This makes this Pekingese an obvious choice for anyone who wants a collector's item with soul or a gift for someone who loves Danish porcelain, dog motifs, and classic figurines.
