Royal Copenhagen Pekingese dog figurine no. 1776 Peter Herold

Royal Copenhagen Pekingese dog figurine no. 1776 is a characterful porcelain figurine with a lively and eye-catching expression. The figurine shows a Pekingese standing upright on its hind legs, which gives the motif a special personality and an almost narrative presence. The light glaze is kept in soft shades of white and beige with darker markings around the eyes, ears and tail, which highlight the dog's face and its soft fur effect.

Peter Herold has here created a dog figurine in which movement and temperament are gathered in a small format. The upright stance makes the model different from many classic animal figurines and gives it an expression that immediately catches the eye in a bookcase, a display cabinet or on a shelf together with other porcelain figurines from Royal Copenhagen. For collectors of dog figurines and Danish porcelain, model number 1776 is an important detail because it makes the figurine easy to identify.

As a porcelain figurine in underglaze, it bears the mark of the assured craftsmanship for which Royal Copenhagen is known. The flowing transitions in the glaze and the fine fields of colour give the figurine calm, while the pose adds life. It is precisely the combination of classic porcelain, lifelike dog motif and strong design that makes this figurine interesting both as a collector's item and as a decorative detail in the home.

A Pekingese figurine like this fits beautifully into an interior with a focus on Danish design, vintage porcelain and personal finds with soul. It is also an obvious gift idea for the dog lover or for the collector who is fond of Royal Copenhagen figurines with a distinct motif and classic expression.
