Royal Copenhagen Pekingese figurine no. 1860 Peter Herold

Royal Copenhagen Pekingese figurine no. 1860 is a charming dog figurine in porcelain, in which Peter Herold has captured the character of the breed in a calm and convincing way. The seated Pekingese has the flat face, the round eyes, and the softly drooping ears that give the figurine its distinctive expression. At the same time, the body's compact shape and the full coat around the chest and neck are modeled so that the figurine appears both lifelike and balanced.

The black-gray, gray, and white decoration highlights the dog's shapes with soft transitions that suit the motif beautifully. In the pictures, the glossy glaze can be seen catching the light across the back, head, and sides, while the light chest fur and the white paws create contrast and depth. This results in a porcelain figurine with a calm presence that fits well in both classic and more modern homes.

Peter Herold's animal figurines for Royal Copenhagen are known for their sure eye for the animal's personality, and this Pekingese figurine is a good example. The combination of porcelain and underglaze provides a durable and refined surface that emphasizes the fine details of the modeling. For collectors of Royal Copenhagen dog figurines, no. 1860 is a motif with both decorative value and collector interest, and for the dog lover it is a figurine that brings breed characteristics and atmosphere into the décor without seeming overdone.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special quality because they combine fine craftsmanship, history, and lasting utility value. It is precisely the type of decorative art and collector's item that still deserves a place in the home today. The figurine can stand alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or together with other animal figurines in porcelain, where it adds personality and a touch of classic Danish design.
