Royal Copenhagen The Tinderbox dog figurine no. 2106 underglaze

This Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 2106 depicts the famous dog from H.C. Andersen's fairy tale The Tinderbox - the dog with eyes as large as mill wheels. The figurine has an expressive and almost theatrical motif, where the large bulging eyes, the pronounced teeth, and the attentive seated posture make it both humorous, fairy-tale-like, and quite special as a collectible figurine.

The porcelain figurine is made in underglaze and has the classic blue and white colour scheme, which suits the motif beautifully. The deep cobalt blue glaze highlights the dog's ears, back, tail, and paws, while the details of the face give the figurine character and life. The dog sits on a brown base, which emphasises the story and gives the figurine a scenic effect that fits well with the fairy-tale universe of the motif.

As a Royal Copenhagen figurine, this fairy-tale figurine has both decorative value and interest for collectors of Danish porcelain, H.C. Andersen motifs, and classic figurines with a story. It works well on its own in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as part of a collection with other porcelain figurines and fairy-tale motifs. It is precisely the combination of Danish design tradition, a well-known literary motif, and the distinctive formal language that makes the figurine an obvious choice for those who are fond of porcelain with personality.

Older porcelain figurines like this bring history and soul into the interior and are at the same time a beautiful example of the joy of preserving quality objects that were created to last. It is a figurine that appeals both to the collector and to the person who wants a decorative feature with a reference to Danish fairy-tale tradition.
