Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4026 Man, horse and child - Kai Nielsen

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4026 "Man, horse and child" is a porcelain figurine with an unusually vivid and close interaction between human and animal. The motif brings together three figures in one compact composition: a male body in motion, a child close against the adult, and the horse's head and neck, which rise distinctly in the form. This gives the figurine a powerful silhouette and a narrative that immediately arouses curiosity.

Designed by Kai Nielsen, the figurine appears with the organic modelling and sense of movement that make many of his works interesting to both collectors and those who appreciate classic Danish figurative art. The white Blanc de Chine finish emphasizes the forms and lets the eye follow the details in body, posture and composition without distracting decoration. Here it is the sculpture itself that carries the expression.

As a Bing & Grøndahl porcelain figurine, this model has both artistic weight and decorative strength. The motif with man, horse and child can be read as a scene from everyday life, family life or a rural setting, and it is precisely this open narrative that makes the figurine exciting in the interior. It fits beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a collection with human figurines, animal figurines and older Danish porcelain.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add soul and personality to the home. At the same time, it is a sustainable pleasure to choose quality design with history rather than new production. For collectors of Kai Nielsen, Bing & Grøndahl and Blanc de Chine figurines, model no. 4026 is a fine example of how sculptural form, narrative and craftsmanship meet in one work.
