Bing & Grøndahl cuckoo bird figurine 7036 K. Otto 20 cm

Bing & Grøndahl cuckoo no. 7036 is a characterful bird figurine in stoneware with a vivid and lifelike expression. The figurine shows the cuckoo with an open beak, as if it is just in the process of calling, and this gives the model both movement and personality. The subdued glaze tones in brownish, green and blue shades emphasize the bird's plumage and make the figurine decorative from all angles.

K. Otto has created a bird figurine with a fine balance between naturalism and sculptural calm. The tail is raised slightly backward, the body rests securely on the leaf-shaped base, and the whole gains an almost narrative expression. It is precisely this kind of older stoneware figurines that add warmth, history and a more personal touch to the home than new mass production. For collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines, model number 7036 is an important detail, and for the design enthusiast it is a decorative figurine that works beautifully on a shelf, sideboard or in a display cabinet.

This cuckoo fits nicely among other bird figurines, Danish stoneware and classic Nordic decorative arts, but can also stand alone as a small eye-catcher. It is an obvious gift for someone who loves birds, Danish design and ceramics with soul. Choosing an older figurine like this is at the same time a beautiful way to give fine craftsmanship new life and let quality design live on in a modern home.
