Bing & Grøndahl thrush figurine no. 7037 stoneware 29 cm

This Bing & Grøndahl thrush figurine no. 7037 is a striking stoneware figurine with a vivid nature motif and a strong decorative presence. The bird is modeled in an upright, singing posture with its beak open and body lifted, giving the figure an almost narrative expression. The dark brownish shades across the back and head play beautifully together with the light, speckled belly and the warm legs, while the bird stands on a shaped base that brings to mind bark, branches, or forest floor.

The figurine is made by Bing & Grøndahl and is associated with K. Otto Johansen, who is also connected with other lifelike animal figurines in stoneware. Here you get precisely the expression that many collectors and interior enthusiasts seek in older Danish ceramics and stoneware: a motif from nature, interpreted with character, calm, and artisanal weight. The glossy glaze highlights the bird's shapes and gives the figurine depth, so it looks beautiful both on its own and together with other bird figurines or Nordic ceramics.

As a vintage figurine, it also has the quality that many appreciate today: the feeling of an original design object with history, created to last and to be used in the interior for many years to come. A thrush like this looks beautiful on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as a standalone eye-catcher on a side table, where its height and upright silhouette really come into their own. It is also an obvious gift for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl, bird figurines, or Danish stoneware.
