Fisherman Bing & Grøndahl stoneware figurine no. 2370 Svend Jespersen

This fisherman figurine from Bing & Grøndahl is a characterful stoneware figurine that captures the atmosphere of coastal life and fishing with calm, weight, and presence. The figurine shows a seated fisherman in a wide-brimmed hat and tall boots, placed on a light stone with his gaze turned slightly to the side. It is a motif with a clear anchoring in working life by the sea, where the pause, reflection, and the day's toil are part of the story.

Svend Jespersen has created a craft figurine with a strong personality and an expression that makes it interesting to observe from several angles. The glaze plays beautifully in dark and earthy shades with sections in brownish, sand-colored, and greenish tones, which emphasize the figurine's rustic and lively surface. The simple base with texture also adds a natural connection to the maritime environment.

As a Bing & Grøndahl figurine, this fisherman appeals both to collectors of Danish stoneware and to those who are fond of figurines with occupational motifs, rural settings, and historical atmosphere. Fisherman figurines and craft figurines in particular have a special ability to add soul and personality to the home, because they tell about people's work, traditions, and everyday life. Here you get a figurine that functions both as a decorative design object and as a fine collector's item with a clear Danish identity.

An older figurine like this is also a good choice for those who appreciate quality objects with history. Beautiful stoneware created to last through generations is a sustainable alternative to new production, and a figurine with this motif fits beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as part of a collection with maritime figurines, peasant figurines, and other occupational figurines.
