Bing & Grøndahl Man in windy weather figure no. 8043

Man in windy weather from Bing & Grøndahl is a porcelain figurine with plenty of movement and storytelling. The figurine shows a man struggling forward in the wind with his upper body bent, one hand at his head and the other stretched down toward the ground, while the hat appears to have been blown off. It is a motif that immediately catches the eye, because the position of the whole body conveys speed, headwind and a small glimpse of humor.

The green jacket, the light apron or coat skirt, the brown boots and the windswept pose give the figurine character and life. This very type of human figurine is something that collectors and design enthusiasts often appreciate about older Bing & Grøndahl figurines: it tells a little story without words. Here you get not just a porcelain figurine, but a scene in miniature, where every angle emphasizes the movement in the motif.

The figurine is executed in overglaze and is associated with Jens Jakob Bregnø. This is seen in the lively modeling, where folds, posture and direction of the face work together to create an expressive snapshot. As a B&G figurine, it fits nicely into a collection of Danish porcelain figurines, but it can also stand alone in the interior on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as a personal feature on a desk or chest of drawers.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add soul and personality to the home. They are created to last a long time, and that is precisely why it is meaningful to let good craftsmanship find new life in a modern home. For collectors of Bing & Grøndahl, figurines of people or classic Danish porcelain, Man in windy weather no. 8043 is a motif with charm, movement and historical character.
