Bing & Grøndahl Little Klaus figurine no. 8048 overglaze

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 8048 depicts Little Klaus from H.C. Andersen's fairy tale and is a porcelain figurine with plenty of storytelling gathered in one motif. The figurine shows the young man kneeling over his hat and a small barrel, both filled with golden coins, and the whole scene has the lively, fairy-tale atmosphere that makes classic fairy-tale figures so sought after among collectors of Danish porcelain.

The colors and details give the figurine character: the black hat, the red vest, the gray back of the vest, the light scarf and the soft folds in the clothing create a nuanced expression, while the gold in the coins adds energy and drama to the motif. The low oval base brings the composition together beautifully and makes the figurine suitable for display on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of an arrangement with other Bing & Grøndahl figurines and fairy-tale motifs.

This porcelain figurine is made in overglaze and is connected to the Danish fairy-tale tradition, where literature, illustration and porcelain art meet. When a figurine like this is preserved and given a new place in the home, it is also a way to appreciate older quality craftsmanship and choose a more sustainable alternative to new production. It is precisely figurines with history and soul that add personality to the décor and make room for both nostalgia and good design.

Little Klaus figurine no. 8048 is well suited to collectors of Bing & Grøndahl, H.C. Andersen figurines and Danish decorative art with a storytelling motif. It is also an obvious gift idea for someone who loves fairy tales, classic porcelain or figurines with clear Danish cultural history.
