Bing & Grøndahl annual figurine 2007 Marie with tuba no. 1249393

Marie with tuba from Bing & Grøndahl is the annual figurine for 2007 and the first figure in the series The little orchestra. The figurine shows a little girl sitting on a chair with the tuba lifted up in front of her, in the midst of the concentrated moment when the music takes shape. It is a porcelain figurine with a calm and narrative expression, which makes it both charming as decoration and interesting as a collector's item.

Sven Vestergaard has created the figurine with an eye for both movement and atmosphere. The light hat, the white blouse, the blue trousers and the golden tuba give the figurine a fine play of colors, while the chair and the seated posture add presence and everyday storytelling to the motif. Marie appears as a musical figure with personality, and it is precisely the combination of child, instrument and narrative that makes it ideal for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl annual figurines and figurines with a music motif.

As part of the series The little orchestra, the figurine also has added collector's value. It can stand beautifully alone in a bookcase, display cabinet or on a shelf, but it is also ideal as the beginning of or supplement to a collection of annual figurines from Bing & Grøndahl. For collectors seeking precisely the first figure in the series, Marie with tuba is an important piece. At the same time, it is a fine choice for anyone who is fond of porcelain figurines with children, music and narrative motifs.

The underglaze decoration supports the classic expression that characterizes much of Danish figurine porcelain, and the figurine clearly bears the mark of the design that has made Bing & Grøndahl sought after among collectors. A figurine like this brings both history, design and musical joy into the home and is a gift idea for the porcelain enthusiast, the music lover or the collector of annual figurines.
