Dahl Jensen English Bulldog Puppy figurine no. 1139, 7 cm

Dahl Jensen figurine no. 1139 depicts an English bulldog puppy with a calm and almost thoughtful appearance, which immediately gives the figurine personality. The compact body, the broad paws, and the soft folds around the head and neck are modeled with great sensitivity to the breed's character, and the slightly lowered head emphasizes the quiet, present expression. It is a dog figurine that catches the eye without seeming intrusive, and that contains both warmth and weight in its design language.

The porcelain figurine is executed in underglaze and appears with light shades combined with darker areas on, among other things, the ears, face, back, and hindquarters. The glossy glaze gives the surface depth and highlights the fine transitions in the modeling, so that the figurine changes character depending on the fall of the light. Seen from several angles, it is experienced as both rounded, powerful, and gentle, which suits the motif of a bulldog puppy particularly well.

Jens Peter Dahl Jensen is known for his naturalistic animal figurines, and this Dahl Jensen dog figurine shows precisely his sure eye for the animal's anatomy and temperament. The figurine has a size that makes it easy to place in the home, whether it stands in a display cabinet, on a shelf, a desk, or together with other porcelain figurines and dog figurines. For collectors of Danish porcelain, model 1139 is a fine example of classic animal depiction, and for dog lovers it is a decorative little art object with distinct breed character.

Older porcelain figurines like this bring history and soul into the interior and are at the same time a beautiful choice for anyone who appreciates fine craftsmanship created to last. Giving a figurine like this new life in a modern home is also a way to choose thoughtfully and preserve quality from previous generations.

It is ideal as a gift for collectors, for the bulldog owner, or for anyone who is fond of classic animal figurines in porcelain.
