Royal Copenhagen monkey stoneware figurine no. 20209 Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen monkey stoneware figurine no. 20209 is a characterful animal figurine with the calm, contemplative expression that makes Knud Kyhn's works so sought after among collectors and design enthusiasts. The figurine depicts a seated monkey with its arms gathered in front of its body and its feet drawn in under itself, modelled in a compact and almost sculptural form that gives it a strong and present expression.

The dark glaze with warm brownish nuances highlights the figurine's shapes and brings life to the face, ears, arms and feet. This very simple, confident modelling helps make the figurine exciting to look at from several angles. It appears both calm and lively at the same time, and that is a large part of the charm of classic monkey figurines from Royal Copenhagen.

Knud Kyhn is known for his animal figurines with personality, and this monkey in stoneware is a fine example of his sense of uniting nature study with decorative strength. The figurine fits beautifully into an interior with Danish design, ceramics and other smaller art objects, where it can stand alone on a shelf, in a bookcase or as part of a combined arrangement with other animal figurines.

For collectors, Royal Copenhagen figurines by Knud Kyhn are an obvious choice, but this stoneware monkey also appeals to those who simply want a figurine with warmth, history and a clear design language. Older design objects like this give the home soul and personality, and they are also a sustainable choice because fine craftsmanship is allowed to live on and be appreciated in new surroundings.

A Royal Copenhagen monkey like this is also an obvious gift idea for someone who is fond of Danish design, stoneware and classic animal figurines with collector's value.
