Royal Copenhagen bear with bowl no. 21737 stoneware figure

Royal Copenhagen bear with bowl no. 21737 is a striking stoneware figure by Knud Kyhn, where animal figure and utility object are gathered in one solid-cast form. The seated bear is modeled with a bowed head and its gaze directed down toward the bowl, which gives the figure a calm, concentrated expression. The motif has both weight and presence, and it is precisely that combination that makes this bear figure a sought-after piece of Danish design for collectors and for those of you who appreciate ceramics with character.

The bowl is integrated into the figure as a natural part of the composition, and this gives the model a special functional dimension. The bear sits closely around the bowl with powerful paws and a compact body, while the surface is characterized by a light glaze with darker nuances and spots, which emphasize form, fur, and details. It is a solution that suits the motif well and underscores Knud Kyhn's sure sense for animals in ceramic form.

As a stoneware figure from Royal Copenhagen, the model contains both artistic strength and usability. It can be used for small items, but functions just as well as pure decoration on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as part of an arrangement with other stoneware, ceramics, and classic Danish design. The low bowl shape in front of the bear gives the figure an open and inviting expression, which makes it interesting to look at from several angles.

Older designs like this have their own calmness and materiality, which fit beautifully into modern homes. When you choose vintage stoneware and figures with history, you get not merely an object, but a piece of design created to last and be appreciated for many years. For collectors of Royal Copenhagen, for connoisseurs of Knud Kyhn, and for everyone seeking a bear figure with both function and personality, this model is an obvious choice.
