Royal Copenhagen elephant figurine no. 802 pair of standing elephants

This Royal Copenhagen elephant figurine no. 802 depicts a lively pair of standing elephants in a close and playful interaction. The two animals are modeled with raised trunks, open mouths, and movement throughout the body, giving the figurine an unusually vivid expression. The soft glaze in light gray shades beautifully emphasizes the forms, while the fine details in ears, eyes, and skin folds give the motif character and presence.

The figurine is made after a model by Knud Kyhn, who is known for his strong and lifelike depictions of animals. Here, his sense of the animals' anatomy is combined with a more narrative and dynamic composition, where two elephants almost seem to tumble around each other. This makes the figurine particularly interesting for collectors of Royal Copenhagen animal figurines and for those who appreciate classic Danish porcelain art with personality.

As an older porcelain figurine, this model also holds the special value found in preserving original craftsmanship and design with history. A figurine like this adds soul and weight to the home, whether it is placed in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as a striking element in a more modern interior. It is also ideal as a gift for collectors or for anyone with a fondness for elephant figurines, animals in porcelain, and Danish design heritage.

The glossy underglaze gives the surface depth and calm, while also highlighting the figurine's elegant movement. It is precisely the combination of motif, model number, and artist that makes this Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 802 a sought-after collector's item with great decorative value.
