Royal Copenhagen Faun on Turtle figurine no. 858

Faun on Turtle is one of the Royal Copenhagen figurines that immediately attracts attention with its fairytale-like and slightly dreamy expression. The figurine shows a little faun sitting on top of a turtle, and the interaction between the two creates a calm, imaginative scene with lots of character. It is a porcelain figurine that combines mythology, humor, and classic Danish figurative art in a way that makes it both decorative and memorable.

The design was created by Christian Thomsen, and the motif has that special blend of life and poetry that makes older Royal Copenhagen figurines so sought after among collectors and design enthusiasts. The faun sits with its head slightly raised and an almost dreamy gaze, while the prominent ears, the curly hair, and the relaxed posture give the figurine personality. The turtle beneath him is modeled with a distinct shell and calm shapes that create a fine contrast to the faun's lively body language.

The glazed surface and the subdued blue-gray shades emphasize the figurine's classic expression. The underglaze decoration gives depth to both the turtle's shell and the small details in the motif, and this very type of porcelain figurine is a good example of Royal Copenhagen's strong tradition of craftsmanship and modeling. The figurine fits beautifully in a collection of fauns, trolls, and other fantasy figures, but also stands strong on its own on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as a characterful feature in a personal interior.

For you, who appreciate porcelain with history and soul, this figurine is also a fine choice as vintage design. Older porcelain figurines like this are made to last and deserve to be preserved, used, and appreciated further. That makes it a sustainable choice for anyone who wants to decorate with quality, originality, and classic Danish design heritage.
