Royal Copenhagen Faun with puppy figure no. 2823

Royal Copenhagen figure no. 2823 shows a faun with a puppy in a vivid and playful motif, where movement and closeness are captured with great assurance. The figure has a warm, narrative expression: the little faun sits close with the puppy in its arms, while the open mouth and upturned face give the scene energy and spontaneity. It is a porcelain figure that immediately attracts attention with its combination of fantasy, delight in animals, and classical figurative art.

The motif is full of charm and small details. The puppy rises up toward the faun, and the interplay between the two makes the figure both dynamic and human in its expression. The soft forms, the fine transitions in the glaze, and the muted nuances underscore the calm, poetic mood that characterizes many older Royal Copenhagen figures. This is a figure that appeals to collectors of fauns, animal figures, and classic Danish porcelain alike.

The figure is designed by Christian Thomsen, who is known for his narrative and characterful models. In this version, the mythological faun motif meets an everyday moment, and it is precisely this contrast that gives the figure personality. The underglaze decoration contributes to the soft, durable surface and to the calm play of colors that suits the motif so well.

As a vintage porcelain figure, it also has a special value in a modern home. It adds soul, history, and a more personal touch to the décor, whether it is placed in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or together with other Royal Copenhagen figures. For collectors, figure number 2823 is an important identification, and for the design enthusiast, it is a fine opportunity to choose older craftsmanship with lasting quality over new production.
