Bing & Grøndahl baker figure no. 2223 - Axel Locher

This porcelain figurine depicts a baker in the midst of his work and finely captures the atmosphere of a classic craft. The figure stands with a white chef's hat, apron and baking tray in his hands, on which two large pretzels are clearly depicted. The motif has a calm, hardworking character, and the downcast gaze gives the figure a natural and down-to-earth expression, which suits a craftsman figure with such a clear connection to the baking profession.

With figure no. 2223, Bing & Grøndahl has created an occupational figure that speaks directly to collectors of porcelain figurines, craftsman figures and classic motifs from everyday life. Designed by Axel Locher, it fits beautifully into the naturalistic tradition, where the human being and his work are at the center. The light tones, the simple clothing and the finely modelled baking tray give the figure a cohesive expression that makes it decorative both alone and together with other figures from the same universe.

As a porcelain figurine in the realism series, it has a special appeal for those who are fond of figures with storytelling, professional identity and historical charm. A baker figure like this can add personality to the display cabinet, the kitchen or the collection and is at the same time an obvious gift idea for a baker, a collector of Bing & Grøndahl or someone who appreciates Danish porcelain art with motifs from crafts and working life.

Older porcelain figurines like this often have a present quality that makes them relevant even in a modern home. When choosing vintage porcelain and classic figures with history, it is also a beautiful way to let fine craftsmanship live on. It provides both character in the interior and the joy of preserving design that was created to be appreciated through generations.
