Royal Copenhagen Faun with goat figurine no. 498

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 498 shows a faun in a close and vivid encounter with a goat. The motif is full of movement and contact: the young faun sits reclining on the round base, while the goat rises up toward him so that their faces almost meet. The composition gives the figurine a special intimacy and an almost narrative expression, where play, mythology and nature merge into one motif.

Christian Thomsen has created a porcelain figurine with soft lines and a fine balance between calm and dynamism. In the pictures, the smooth, modelled forms, the light glaze and the subdued nuances in, among other things, hair, legs and base can be seen. The oval movement between the faun's body and the goat's upright posture makes the figurine interesting from several angles and gives it a sculptural character that suits both classic and personal interior design.

As a Royal Copenhagen figurine, this faun with goat belongs to the type of porcelain figurines that appeal to collectors of Danish porcelain, fauns, mythological motifs and older figurative art. The underglaze supports the calm and harmonious expression, and the motif has a timeless quality that makes the figurine suitable both as a collector's item and as a decorative detail in the home. It works beautifully in a display cabinet, on a shelf or as part of an arrangement with other porcelain figurines and works of art.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special charm because they bring with them both history, craftsmanship and personality. It is precisely the kind of object that is created to be appreciated through generations and can still find a natural place in a modern home. For those who are fond of Royal Copenhagen, Christian Thomsen or classic faun figurines, this is a motif with both character and collector's value.
