Aluminia small Christmas plate 1927 Star over church

Aluminia small Christmas plate 1927 with the motif Star over church is an atmospheric vintage piece, where the light of Christmas and the Danish church tradition come together in one simple and powerful image. The bright star at the top of the plate sends broad rays of light down over the church and creates a calm, solemn scene that brings to mind Christmas night, hope and reflection.

The motif is composed with a fine balance between the simple and the decorative. At the bottom, the church appears in dark blue shades, while the light from the star opens up the image and gives the motif depth. At the top, the star is framed by a distinctive flower shape in blue tones with green leaves, and along the edge both "Christmas" and the year 1927 appear as an integrated part of the decoration. The deep blue colours, the green branches and the warm golden star give the plate the colourful expression that makes Aluminia's faience plates particularly characteristic and distinguishes them from many more traditional blue-and-white Christmas plates.

This vintage piece is one of the small Aluminia Christmas plates, which were produced from 1904 to 1938. This gives the 1927 plate an interesting place in the middle of the series' long history, where Aluminia had truly developed its assured design language with both decorative power and a narrative world of motifs. Here, it is precisely the interplay between the church, the winter light and the Christmas star that makes the motif memorable.

The plate is designed by Niels Thorsson and made in faience, a material that suits the lively glazes and the handcrafted surface beautifully. On older Aluminia faience, fine crazing in the glaze may occur, which is completely normal for the material and its age. It is part of the history and authenticity that many collectors and interior enthusiasts appreciate.

As wall decoration, this small Christmas plate is ideal both on its own and together with other vintage pieces from the Aluminia series. It adds a warm, classic Christmas atmosphere to the home and is at the same time a beautiful example of Danish design history that can still be given new life in a modern interior.
