Seltmann Swedish Landscapes plate / dinner plate, Halland, 1984

Seltmann Swedish Landscapes plate / dinner plate from 1984 with a motif from Halland combines Swedish coastal atmosphere, summer life and classic blue-and-white porcelain decoration in one and the same piece. On the front stands the name of the landscape and the year as the original inscription "Halland 1984", which makes this porcelain plate easy to identify for both collectors and those seeking a particular Swedish landscape.

The motif on this Halland plate exudes life by the water. In the foreground, people bathing and sunbathing can be seen on the beach, while a fisherman stands at the shore with his gear. To the left stands a striking group of sculptures, and in the background a ferry glides across the water in front of a substantial coastal fortification with buildings on top. This gives the scene a fine balance between holiday idyll, Swedish summer and a more historical coastal silhouette. The bright, open sky and the calm water emphasize the relaxed atmosphere that makes the Halland motif both decorative and narrative.

Around the central motif runs the series' characteristic blue floral and plant border. It ties Halland together with the other plates in Seltmann Swedish Landscapes and gives the series a recognizable expression. This also means that this plate is easy to combine with other years and landscapes if you collect Swedish porcelain or want a personal wall with several motifs.

The series was produced by Seltmann Weiden for the Swedish market and contains motifs from Sweden's 25 traditional landscapes. Here one senses the German porcelain tradition in a form that is both practical and decorative. The plate therefore does not only need to hang for decoration. It may be used for food and works well as, for example, a cake plate or for a small serving, and since it is dishwasher safe, it is also easy to have in use in everyday life.

At the same time, it is a fine vintage plate with history and soul. Older porcelain like this is made to last, and it is a special pleasure to give such things new life in a modern home. On the back there are two holes for hanging, so Halland 1984 can also easily be included as wall decoration.

On the back it says, among other things, "Seltmann Weiden", "Bavaria W. Germany", "Qualitats Porzellan" and "Begrænsad Upplaga". The last text indicates that the release is intended as a limited edition.
