About the product
1910 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by C. Ersgaard, is titled The Old Organist. Bing & Grøndahl's Christmas plate from 1910 depicts an organ in a Danish church and the organist playing the organ. The motif seems to be from the middle ages, as the clothes of the organist seem to be from that period. The organ, which is today the instrument used in all Danish churches to accompany the hymns, has a long history. As far back as 200 BC a man with musical interests built the first organ in Alexandria. The word organ came from the Greek word organon meaning instrument.
