The motif of this commemorative plate is a combination of the motif of the first Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate from 1908 and the motif of the first Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate which was made in 1895. The 1908 Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate has the title Maria with the Child and the 1895 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate has the title Behind the Frozen Window This Royal Copenhagen memorial plate was designed by Sven Vestergaard and was decorated under the glaze. The plate was produced to celebrate the historic union of Denmark's premier porcelain houses Bing & Grondahl and Royal Copenhagen.
