Royal Copenhagen polar bear figurine no. 321 or 054 by Carl J. Bonnesen

Royal Copenhagen polar bear figurine no. 321 or 054 is a classic porcelain figurine with a calm, lifelike expression. The figurine shows a polar bear in a forward-leaning position with its head lowered, as if it is occupied with the scent in front of it. The simple white glaze and the softly modeled shapes give the figurine a clean and sculptural expression that fits beautifully into both classic and modern homes.

The motif has the special calm and weight that characterize many of Royal Copenhagen's animal figurines. Here it is not the dramatic, but the concentrated movement and the confident modeling that carry the figurine. The small marked details at the eyes and snout emphasize the animal's character, while the glossy surface highlights the lively play of the porcelain in the light.

According to the existing registration, the figurine is a porcelain figurine of an eating polar bear, executed in underglaze and designed by Carl J. Bonnesen. The model number is referred to as 321 or 054, and precisely the figurine number is an important detail for collectors of older Royal Copenhagen figurines. Carl J. Bonnesen is also associated among dealers and the collectors' market with this polar bear figurine, which is known as a Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 321.

A figurine like this adds personality and history to the home. It works beautifully alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as part of a larger collection of porcelain figurines and animal figurines from Royal Copenhagen. For collectors and interior enthusiasts, it is a figurine with both decorative value and classic Danish design tradition, and at the same time it is a fine example of how older quality objects can still create joy in a contemporary home.
