Bing & Grøndahl polar bear figurine 1629 or 409 by Dahl-Jensen

This polar bear from Bing & Grøndahl is a classic porcelain figurine with a calm and lifelike expression. The figurine is modelled as a sitting polar bear, with the body resting heavily and relaxed, while the head is turned slightly to the side. This gives the figurine life and presence and makes it a fine eye-catcher for collectors of Danish porcelain and animal figurines.

Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen is known for his convincing animal motifs, and that is clearly seen here in the assured modelling of the bear's posture and anatomy. The smooth, glossy surface emphasizes the fine quality of the porcelain, while the hand-painted details at the snout, eyes and paws create depth and character. The white glaze with discreet nuances gives the figurine a cool and harmonious expression, which fits well into both classic and modern surroundings.

A porcelain figurine like this appeals to both the collector and the interior enthusiast. It can stand alone in a display cabinet, on a shelf or in a quietly arranged tableau with other animals from Bing & Grøndahl or Royal Copenhagen. At the same time, it is an object with history and durability - a piece of Danish design, created to be appreciated and preserved through generations. For many, it is precisely older porcelain figurines that are a meaningful way to decorate with quality, personality and thoughtfulness rather than new production.

The polar bear is known under figurine number 1629 and is also referred to as 409, which makes both numbers relevant for searching and identification. It is therefore a figurine that is easy to recognize for collectors seeking an original Bing & Grøndahl polar bear modelled by Dahl-Jensen.
