Bing & Grøndahl mackerel pair fish figurine no. 1638, 21 cm

Bing & Grøndahl mackerel pair no. 1638 is a classic fish figurine in porcelain, executed with underglaze and shaped as two mackerel in a close, dynamic composition. The figurine has a lifelike expression with the characteristic dark wavy stripes along the back, light belly surfaces and a slender shape that gives the motif life and direction. It is precisely the simple, precise rendering of the fish's lines that makes this porcelain figurine so eye-catching in the interior.

As a fish figurine from Bing & Grøndahl, it embodies both Danish porcelain tradition and a fondness for nature motifs. The two fish are positioned offset over one another, which creates a calm yet at the same time lively expression. The blue-grey and white decoration emphasizes the figurine's maritime character and makes it easy to place together with both other porcelain, glass and Nordic interior decor. It works beautifully alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a collection of animal figurines and marine motifs.

For collectors, figurine number 1638 is an important detail, and for many, fish figurines from Bing & Grøndahl are sought after precisely because of their fine balance between naturalism and decorative formal language. At the same time, it is a figurine that still fits beautifully into a modern home, where older quality objects add personality, history and longevity. Choosing vintage porcelain is also an obvious way to give fine craftsmanship new life and let the designs of earlier times continue to be used and appreciated.

The mackerel pair is also an obvious gift idea for someone who loves the sea, angling, Danish design or classic collector figurines. The decorative width of 21 cm means that the figurine has a good presence without seeming heavy, and the motif has a special calm that suits both classic and simpler surroundings.
