Bing & Grøndahl Perch figurine no. 2174 by Svend Jespersen

Bing & Grøndahl's perch figurine no. 2174 is a porcelain figurine with a calm, lifelike expression and a shape that captures the character of the fish in a simple and convincing way. The distinctive dorsal fin, the slightly open mouth, and the soft movement of the body bring the figurine to life, while the green and grayish shades with dark stripes emphasize the motif as a perch. The model is registered as no. 2174 and is associated with the artist Svend Jespersen.

The figurine is made of porcelain with underglaze, which suits the smooth, glossy expression and the fine color transitions seen on the model. Svend Jespersen is known for his animal figurines for Bing & Grøndahl, and here the design language is kept strict and harmonious, allowing room for both the fish's anatomy and the special lightness of porcelain. This makes the figurine ideal for those who collect Bing & Grøndahl figurines, fish figurines, or Danish porcelain art with nature motifs.

A fish figurine like this works beautifully in a display cabinet collection, on a shelf with Danish design, or as a personal gift for an angler, collector, or someone who loves maritime motifs. The small sculptural form makes it easy to combine with other animal figurines, but it also stands strongly on its own as a decorative piece of porcelain with a clear Bing & Grøndahl identity. For many, it is precisely the older animal figurines that are something special, because they unite fine craftsmanship, the joy of collecting, and the pleasure of letting quality design live on in modern surroundings.
