Royal Copenhagen American Perch fish figurine no. 2553

Royal Copenhagen fish figurine no. 2553 depicts an American perch in a calm and precisely modelled expression. The figurine has a distinctive, almost circular body shape, where the soft curves and the upright tail give the motif life and movement. The grey-toned glaze, the fine scales and the muted pink shades on the fins create a natural play on the surface, which suits the motif and makes the figurine very decorative in a collection of porcelain figurines or as a standalone object in the interior.

This porcelain figurine is designed by Francis Valdemar Platen-Hallermundt for Royal Copenhagen, an artist who is known for his lifelike animal motifs. Here the fish is rendered with a sure eye for both form and character. The darker back, the discreet stripes and the glossy underglaze give the figurine depth, while the compact size and the well-balanced form make it easy to place on a shelf, in a display cabinet or on a desk.

A fish figurine like this appeals both to collectors of Royal Copenhagen and to those who are fond of classic Danish porcelain with motifs from the world of nature. It fits beautifully together with other animal figurines, maritime elements and older decorative art, but can also stand alone as a small sculptural detail with history and personality. For many, older porcelain figurines are precisely a fine way to bring lasting craftsmanship into the home while at the same time choosing a more sustainable alternative to new production.

American Perch no. 2553 is therefore an obvious choice if you are looking for a Royal Copenhagen figurine with collector interest, a nature motif with a calm appearance and a piece of Danish design history that still feels relevant today.
