Bing & Grøndahl hen figurine no. 2193 Svend Jespersen 12 cm

Bing & Grøndahl hen figurine no. 2193 is a porcelain figurine with a calm and lifelike expression, which makes it a charming feature in the collection or the interior. The hen stands upright with its head raised and an attentive posture, which gives the figurine life and presence. The light glaze is broken by gray and dark details on the tail, wing, and head, while the greenish-toned base brings to mind grass and a farmyard setting.

The motif was designed by Svend Jespersen, who is known for his well-balanced animal figurines at Bing & Grøndahl. Here, the hen's form is simplified in a way that still preserves the sense of movement and character. The slender neck, the small head, and the slightly forward-facing posture give the figurine an alert expression, while the underglaze unites the whole in soft transitions and a harmonious play of colors.

This B&G bird figurine fits nicely in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or together with other bird figurines and rustic motifs in porcelain. It can stand alone as a discreet piece of Danish decorative art or be included in a larger collection of Bing & Grøndahl figurines. For collectors, model number 2193 is an important identification, and for the interior enthusiast, it is a figurine with both history, craftsmanship, and personality.

Choosing an older porcelain figurine is also a way to give good craftsmanship new life. Classic figurines like this bring soul into the home and are a sustainable alternative to new production. It is precisely the type of object that can continue to create joy through generations.
