Bing & Grøndahl reclining calf figurine 448 or 2168 - Svend Jespersen

This porcelain figurine of a reclining calf from Bing & Grøndahl has a calm and intimate expression that makes it easy to cherish. The calf is modelled in a relaxed resting position with its head turned back, so the motif gains life and character from every angle. The soft shapes and the glossy glaze emphasize the figurine's calm mood, while the grey detailing on the white body gives a lifelike and finely balanced expression.

Svend Jespersen has here created an animal figurine where the simple motif is combined with great precision in the modelling. The face, the ears, and the placement of the legs give the figurine personality, and the underglaze decoration contributes to the classic expression for which Bing & Grøndahl is known. It is exactly the kind of porcelain figurine that appeals both to collectors of Danish animal figurines and to those who want a smaller design object with warmth and history.

A figurine like this fits beautifully in a bookcase, a display cabinet, or on a shelf together with other porcelain figurines, farm motifs, or classic Danish ceramics and porcelain. It also works well as a gift idea for a collector or for someone who is fond of animals, rural motifs, and older Danish design. When choosing an older Bing & Grøndahl figurine, one is at the same time choosing a piece of craftsmanship that was created to be preserved and appreciated for many years to come.

The current title mentions both figurine no. 448 and 2168, and the existing product text also states new number 1020448. Therefore, all relevant numbers are valuable keywords for this particular figurine. This makes it easier to find for collectors searching for Bing & Grøndahl calf, porcelain figurine cow, or Svend Jespersen figurine.
