Royal Copenhagen calf figurine no. 1072 or 082 by Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen calf figurine no. 1072 or 082 is a charming porcelain figurine with the lively and lifelike expression that makes Knud Kyhn's animal figurines so sought after. The calf is lying down with its body gathered beneath itself, while the head is raised and the mouth is slightly open, as if it is calling. This gives the figurine a narrative and present character that immediately catches the eye.

The hand-painted underglaze beautifully highlights the soft shapes and the calm motif. The dark grey-brown and white areas emphasize the calf's natural appearance, and the fine transitions in the glaze bring life to both the face, ears, and body. It is precisely this combination of simple form, confidently modeled anatomy, and warm personality that has made Knud Kyhn's animal figurines from Royal Copenhagen classics within Danish porcelain.

As a porcelain figurine, this reclining calf fits beautifully into both the classic and the more modern interior. It works well alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as part of a collection with other Royal Copenhagen figurines and animal figurines. The motif has a calm, rural atmosphere that adds warmth and character to the home.

For collectors, figurine no. 1072 or 082 is an interesting choice because it unites Danish design history, artistic quality, and a motif with great appeal. Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to bring history and personality into the interior, while at the same time being a sustainable choice for those who appreciate fine craftsmanship created to last for generations.
